Zack Zhongqi Jing's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Zack Zhongqi Jing/景中起 who left us on 04/21/2025 at the age of 79. He succumbed to lung cancer and the side effects of treatments.
Zack Zhongqi Jing /景中起 was born on Oct. 22, 1945 in Hai-an, Jiangsu, China. Son of a wise educator father and hardworking mother, oldest of four siblings, he grew up at a time of turbulence and hardship, with responsibilities instilled in him. He lived a life best described by kindness, quiet strength and determination. Throughout his years, he touched the lives of many with his wisdom, his work ethic and his deep love for family.
He will be remembered as a brilliant engineer. He was gifted and found joy in working with radio and math as a teenager. His career spans from early days at Shenyang tractor factory where he met his lifelong partner of 53 years, to his pursuit of Ph.D at New York, to his professorship at Hefei, and culminated at Boulder and Norman, where his work at NOAA resulted in numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the advancement of US weather radar system. His dedication and brilliance will forever be a source of inspiration and pride to his children and grandchildren.
Beyond his professional life, Zack was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His greatest joy, without a doubt, came from spending time with those he loved. His most heartfelt smiles were those when he was playing with his grandson and granddaughter.
Zack is survived by wife Yongxian Wei, daughter Yaowen, son Zhinian, grandson Joshua, granddaughter Melissa, sister Huining, and sister Jiaoning, who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives with the same compassion and strength he modeled every day.
A funeral and burial service will be held on 5/1/2025 at Skylawn Funeral Home in Half Moon Bay and via Zoom.
He will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.

景中起生于1945年10月22日中国江苏省海安县。他是博学的父亲和勤劳的母亲的长子，也是四个兄弟姐妹中的长兄。在动荡艰苦的年代中成长，责任感早早根植于他的心中。他的一生，以善良、沉稳的力量、与坚韧不拔的精神为人称道。在岁月长河中，他以智慧、勤奋、和对家庭的深厚爱意、鼓舞和启发我们。
他是一位杰出的工程师。自少年时期，他便展现出在无线电技术和数学方面的天赋与热爱。他的职业生涯从沈阳拖拉机厂起步——在那里，他结识了相伴53年的终身伴侣；之后赴纽约攻读博士学位；回国在合肥任教；最终在美国博尔德和诺曼市的NOAA（美国国家海洋和大气管理局）工作。他在推动美国气象雷达系统进步方面做出了重要贡献，荣获无数奖项与荣誉。他的才华与奉献，将永远激励并成为子孙后代的骄傲。
在事业之外，景中起先生也是一位慈爱的儿子、兄长、丈夫、父亲、祖父和朋友。他最大的喜悦，无疑来自于与挚爱之人共度时光。他最真挚、最幸福的笑容，总是在与孙子孙女嬉戏时绽放。
景中起先生的亲人——妻子魏永贤、女儿耀文、儿子志年、孙子Joshua(佳佳)、孙女Melissa(甜甜)、妹妹惠宁及妹妹小宁，将秉承他生前所展现的爱与坚韧，继续传承他的精神与遗志。
追思及安葬仪式将于2025年5月1日，在加利福尼亚州半月湾的Skylawn殡仪馆举行，并同步通过Zoom线上直播。
景中起先生将被深深怀念，永远铭记于心中。
