William Donald Jones' Obituary
In Loving Memory of William Donald Jones it is with deep love and admiration that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He also left behind many family members as well. William passed away peacefully at the age of 95.
Born in Springfield, Illinois and as a young boy sold papers to help earn money to go to the movies. Later, when he was 14 the family moved to California and resided in South San Francisco where he worked in a bakery while going to school. He loved to use his earnings to go to the cinema on Market Street in San Francisco.
William joined the army at 18 and after coming home met his wife Eleanor in Salinas, they were soon married and lived there for 5 years. Later, William and Eleanor moved to Redwood City where they have lived in the same house for the past 67 years.
William enjoyed bowling and golf along with a love for his gardening, leaving a legacy of colorful flowering plants. He decorated inside and out for each and every holiday, his house was the best on the block. Each year the family would take a summer trip to different states to see various sites.
He had a love for old cowboy movies and watching football, He is survived by his wife Eleanor, two daughters; Linda, Pamela, four grandkids and six great grandkids. William and Eleanor remained married for 73 years. William lived a long and rich life. RIP
