Celebrating the life of
Varun Sharma
26 July 1981 - 29 November 2025
We are saddened to inform you that Varun Sharma, grandson of Shri Ved Prakash Sharma and Shakuntala Devi, and son of Shri Shyam Sunder Sharma and Rita Bhanot, passed away peacefully on November 29th, 2025.
Born in Patiala, Punjab, Varun led a life marked by exceptional qualities and hard work. His name, Varun, means "benevolent God of Water," perhaps explaining his lifelong love for living near water bodies. He was also known affectionately by his loved ones as 'Kanu,' meaning 'Krishna,' a reflection of the joy he loved giving to friends and family.
He attended VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) before moving to Singapore, and finally to the United States, where he worked for Visa for over ten years.
His friends and colleagues describe him as a remarkable soul whose presence brought strength, warmth, and inspiration to everyone around him. He kept people together with his caring heart and personal touch. Books were his therapy, new technologies his playground and innovation his way of sharing joy with the world.
Known for his humility, compassion, and deep respect for others, Varun leaves behind a legacy of exceptional leadership, genuine warmth, and unshakable dedication to each person and every challenge he touched.
He is survived by his cherished parents, Shri Shyam Sunder Sharma and Rita Bhanot, and his brother, Hemant Sharma. His uncles, aunts, extended family, and friends will miss him dearly and keep his memory in their hearts always.
