Takayuki Clarence Seki's Obituary
Takayuki (Tak) Clarence Seki, age 50, left us peacefully on March 1st, with his family by his side at home in San Bruno. He courageously battled brain cancer for the second time in his life. Tak was born in Oita Japan, but moved to San Francisco as a young child. He was a city kid from the moment he stepped foot in the US. He leaves behind his dedicated wife Susan of 17 and a half years, his adoring children Nathan 12, and Kristen 9, his cherished mother Utako Kudo of Corte Madera, his loving sister Machiko Nakasu of Corte Madera (husband David and daughter Kylie), mother in law Tomiyo Ishizaki of Sacramento, brother in law Mark Ishizaki of Santa Rosa (wife Anna, children Aidan and Jakie), and brother in law George Ishizaki of Japan (wife Fukuko and son Taiyo). Tak attended Morning Star Elementary School, Cathedral Intermediate Middle School, then Sacred Heart High School. He received his bachelors degree and masters in counseling from San Francisco State University. He worked in the city at Wallenberg Highschool for JCYC as a highschool counselor after receiving his masters. Then he got a job as an academic counselor in Letters and Sciences at UC Berkeley, where he was employed for 20 years to the date of his death. He was a life long SF Giants fan, which he passed on to his wife and kids. He enjoyed collecting and selling sports cards, fantasy football, playing poker with his counseling buddies, and 'boys night out' with his Cal buddies. His passion was music and dancing, which he also passed on to his kids. His favorite genres of music included 70's soul, rythm and blues, jazz, pop, and more. He was best known for his whimsical sense of humor, his big heart, and his gregarious nature. He made friends with anyone and everyone, human and four legged. And the friends he had were friends for life. He will be remembered for his jokes, his knowledge of sports facts and music facts, and breaking out into the Electric Slide. His biggest pride and joy in life were his 2 fun loving children, who adored him immensely. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to 'The Seki Family Trust.” A Celebration of Life will be held at Skylawn Funeral Home on Monday, March 12th, at 1:00 pm. The service will be followed by a burial and a reception.
