Rick Urrutia's Obituary
Rick (Henry) Urrutia, III died peacefully on August 27, 2013 after a courageous battle with Myelofibrosis. Rick was the loving husband of Barbara Wolfston Urrutia, proud father of David Dees Urrutia from San Mateo, dear brother of Col. Michael Urrutia (Lynn) of Burke, VA & loving uncle to several nieces and nephews. Born at Fort Belvoir,VA to the late Col. Henry & Genny Urrutia. In 1973 Rick received his Industrial Design degree at Georgia Tech.During his youth Rick lived around the world & especially enjoyed Panama where he learned to love the game of golf. In 1985 Rick founded Automation Controls Group in Campbell. He enjoyed mentoring his employees to help them excel in their jobs and lived by his motto “Work Hard, Play Hard”. His aesthetic design sense shined in everything he did, from his garden & home to his love of entertaining.Rick was an active member of Vistage and an avid GA Tech & 49er’s football fan. During retirement Rick found joy in working with young people at “The First Tee” and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula. He will be greatly missed by Brogan his dog & the neighborhood children where he enjoyed attending their sporting events. A “Tribute to Rick” will be held on Fri., Sept. 20th at 2 p.m. at Skylawn, Highway 92 in San Mateo.
