Phyllis Chi Yuk Chan's Obituary
Phyllis Chi-Yuk Chan, 82, a resident of San Mateo, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024. She was born on May 12, 1942, in China. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to her family. She was an avid reader and loved to read all kinds of books, including English author Agatha Christie and Chinese novelist Jin Yong (金庸). She enjoyed all kinds of food and loved to read world news.
At a young age, Phyllis went to the United Kingdom to become a nurse. After returning to Hong Kong, she went to work for Bank of America where she met her husband, Raymond Chan. They had been married for more than 50 years and traveled around the world.
She is survived by her two daughters, Addie and Susan Chan, her beloved granddaughter, Michelle Fong; and her son-in-law Joseph Chan and Sunny Ho.
The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at noon on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Services will conclude in the chapel and a memorial reception will follow at H. L. Peninsula Garden restaurant located at 1600 Old Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, CA 94010.
