Patrick Hung-Chih Liu's Obituary
Patrick Hung-Chih Liu, 78, of Burlingame, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025 with his family by his side.
Throughout his life, Patrick was an avid adventurer and explorer of the world around him, never afraid to try or teach himself something new. While he had a keen interest in the stock market that led to his lifelong career at Merrill Lynch, he also loved the outdoors and spent time fishing, or tending the garden and enjoying the birds that came to visit his fruit trees. Among his other interests were his iPad, snooker, travel, music of all ages and genres, photography, blackjack and poker, enjoying the deer and wild hares while walking the local trails, watching the latest James Bond and Star Wars movies, cooking and discovering new foods, and cutting fruit for everyone to enjoy.
We honor Patrick for a life well-lived, and wish him a beautiful journey. We will remember his easy-going nature and acceptance of others, his dedication to doing the right thing, and his steadfast generosity in caring for us, his family and friends. He made a difference in the lives he touched. We already miss his special sense of humor and finding something to laugh or smile about each day.
To his wife Hanna, daughters Lillian and Marie, siblings Hui Ying, Hung Mao, and Hung Chang, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, Patrick bids a fond farewell: “Don’t worry about me. I’m ok, you take care of yourself. Have you eaten, do you want some fruit?”
We invite you to join us in remembrance together. A memorial service to celebrate Patrick’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 27th, at 12:00pm in the Pacific Chapel at Skylawn Memorial Park (888 Lifemark Rd, Half Moon Bay). A private inurnment will follow afterwards at 2:00pm.
