I first met Patrick back in 1962 when we were classmates in Taipei. He was always polite, smart, and a talented basketball player who represented our class on the court. After freshman year, Patrick left to study abroad, and at the time I thought we might never meet again. But life has its surprises—after 50 years, we reconnected in San Francisco through our classmate Bret. Meeting him again after so long was truly special, and I believe it was yuan that brought us back together.
