Mei-Ling Chen's Obituary
Mei-Ling Chen, loving wife of Chien-Chun Lin and wonderful mother of Anika and Max, passed away at home in Cupertino, CA on May 13, 2017.Born and raised in Taiwan, Mei-Ling started out as a dancer, encouraged by her teacher’s after-class ice cream treats. Later, her passion and love for the performance arts lead her to become a beautiful dancer, pianist, artist, and choreographer. In 1995, she resigned from teaching at the Chinese Culture University and moved to the U.S. to allow her to study at Sam Houston University. During her study, her choreography was selected for the National College Dance Festival in both 1996 and 1997. Her award winning work “Fairy Rainbow” has been performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.Mei-Ling was known for having creations that have been praised as having a beautiful soul – inside and out.Mei-Ling married Chien-Chun and moved to the Bay Area in 1999. A few years later, she changed careers and devoted herself to the Science and Technology Department of Taipei Economic and Culture Office in San Francisco until her illness found her.A celebration of Mei-Ling’s life will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Pacific Chapel in Skylawn Funeral Home. The public portion of Memorial Service will be from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by the burial.
