Lucille Liu's Obituary
Lucille was born in China. She spent her formative years, which she remembers were full of love, in Shanghai with her extended family. She was an exceptional student and was affectionately known as the family bookworm. Lucille spent time in Argentina then enrolled at the University of Illinois, where she met her future husband, Geoffrey. They married in 1955, and Lucille focused on pouring her love and values into their five children. They spent most of their married life in Upstate New York, where she was well known as a caring person who welcomed people into her home, but especially for her love of children.
Once Geoffrey retired, they moved to the Bay Area, for better weather and Chinese food. Lucille loved those years - their new home and friends as well as their time with family and traveling abroad. After Geoffrey passed, Lucille moved into a retirement community and quickly developed a group of wonderful friends and continued to nurture her intense curiosity through learning new things and extensive travel.
After 93 wonderful years and a short illness, Lucille passed away on September 23, 2025. She is survived by her children Nora (Rick), Franklin (Noly), Sandra, Joyce, and Paul (Jean), and her dearly beloved grandchildren and great grandchild.
