Linda L. McKinley Daily's Obituary
Linda Lou “McKinley” Daily, 85, of Walnut Creek, California, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020 with family by her side. She was born to the late David and Beatrice McKinley, July 15, 1935 in Portland, Indiana—the sixth of seven children. Linda was quite popular at Portland High School having been on the cheer team and played trombone in the marching band. She went on to get her degree in Home Economics from Michigan State University and taught home economics at East Junior High and Roosevelt High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan before marrying Michael J. Daily in 1966 and raising her family. Linda is survived by her brother, Bill McKinley of Muncie, Indiana, her two daughters, Bridget “Daily” Coonce and her husband, Gary Coonce of Walnut Creek, California and Kellie “Daily” Turkisher, her husband, Richard Turkisher, and children Cameron and Reese of Portland, Oregon. Linda was preceded in death by Michael J. Daily in 2014.
After moving to California where she beat her breast cancer and was closer to her daughters and their families, she met new friends and engaged in travel and social activities like Bingo, happy hours, musical sing-alongs and educational lectures.
She cherished her role of Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend to so many. No matter what challenges life brought her, you would always find her smiling and laughing.
A celebration of life and interment of her ashes will be held on March 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, California.
An additional celebration of life and interment of a portion of her ashes will take place on July 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at Green Park Cemetery in Portland, Indiana.
Linda’s life will also be celebrated on July 11, 2021 at a private gathering in Brighton, Michigan. Friends of Linda are encouraged to contact her daughter Bridget Coonce at 415-509-4620.
