Kenneth James MacDonald's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Ken MacDonald announces his passing on January 17, 2026, at the age of 58, in Napa, California. Ken was born on May 4, 1967, in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Ken’s professional career was marked by significant achievements in program and supply chain management, culminating in his role as Senior Director, Business Process Transformation at NVIDIA. He started with a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Technology from Carleton University in 1990. His career included time working in the US, Canada, Europe, and South America at several companies in the technology and semiconductor fields.
In his career at NVIDIA, he oversaw all supply chain processes across Operations and IT implementations. Establishing the workflow and automations needed to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Supply Chain operations as the company rolled out and scaled various products.
Previously, Ken held a similar role at Lumentum (formerly JDSU), where he led global initiatives for ERP and Supply Chain systems. Ken always brought his positive attitude, deep expertise, and great program management capabilities to structure programs effectively, which made his projects successful and enjoyable for everyone involved.
As a passionate sports lover, Ken’s lifelong commitment to hockey began in the local rinks of Nova Scotia, continued through his university days at Carleton, and extended into adult leagues, including several years with the NVIDIA company team.
Outside the rink, Ken loved rock music and the guitar. He was also known for his kindness, his steady leadership, and his ability to bring people together. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a loyal friend, and someone many relied on. He was joyful, full of life, and deeply considerate, and this was mirrored in his upbringing. Raised by a loving family and surrounded by sincerity. He loved to travel and visited many countries around the globe with his family, especially Scotland, reconnecting with his heritage and exploring the whiskey scene.
Ken was taken from us far too soon. While we can no longer see him or hold his hand, his presence lives on in our hearts.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Ivy, and stepsons Xore and Roy; his parents, Winston and Trudy MacDonald; his sisters, Karen (Daryl Denny) and Nancy (Steve Joyce); and his life-long friends, Tim Seeney and Scott Gibson. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces throughout Canada and the United States.
