I was very fortunate to have Jack as a Father-in-Law, and to also be a part of the San Francisco Police Department. Jack spent his entire 30 years with the SFPD in uniform, and was considered a “Cop’s Cop”, which is a high honor among working police officers. We had fun listening to one another’s stories of working and walking our beats, especially in the Northern, Ingleside and Mission Districts. I used to laugh at Jack’s no-nonsense approach to how he would handle perpetrators “Ask them once,” he would tell me. On our patch and written in Spanish it states “Gold in Peace, Iron in War,” and I know Jack spent much of his time at the SFPD during our most turbulent years, so his metal was tested. Now it is time for peace. I will miss our chats, Bless you.
