Jim and I were born on the same day, January 20, 1949. But, our paths did not cross, nor did our friendship develop, until we lived near each other in Redwood City as kids in a neighborhood, around the corner from one another. Jim grew up on Jackson Street and I on El Camino Real. Like all kids we messed in our neighborhood, riding bikes and exploring. Jim and I were in the same Boy Scout Troop and had a lot of fun. After high school we lost touch, until Jim found me on Classmates.com in 2006! On Dec. 23, 2006, we all met at his father’s home in Redwood City. That is when I met his wife, Dana, and they met my wife, Rosanna. It was then we decided to meet each year on our birthday to celebrate. And we did, until Dana’s passing and Jim’s becoming ill. Now, there is an emptiness in my heart, but Jim still lives in there and my mind. Thanks for your service to your country, Jim! And every January 20th I will put a candle in a cupcake, wish us “Happy Birthday,” and remember the Good Ol’d Days together. Now your pain and suffering ends, and you join Dana and past family in eternal rest. God bless you Jim!
