Haroutioun (Harold) Isaac of San Mateo, aged 78, passed away at Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame on May 26, 2024. Harold was born in 1946 in Beirut, Lebanon to Sahag & Marie Ishac. He attended St. Gregoire Catholic School and Dje Read Obituary
I was so sad to hear about Harold's passing. I moved to Montara in 1991 and discovered Harold's shoe repair shop in Shoreline Station shortly thereafter. I saw him as recently as 6 weeks ago when I took in a pair of sandals and a purse for him to do his repair-artistry on. Harold was a charming and amusing man and I will surely miss his expertise. And his personality.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Harold's (as I knew him) recent passing. When I moved to the coast in 1990 I was delighted to find that there was a shoe repair shop right in Half Moon Bay, so I wouldn't have to make the trek over the hill to get my shoes mended! And Harold was, indeed, a master cobbler and he restored many a pair of shoes for me over the years. (As a matter of fact, just a week or so ago I had set aside a pair of shoes that I was planning to drop off with him to see if they could be re-heeled.)
But Harold was more than merely a skilled craftsman, he was a true gentleman of the old school--honorable, honest, and kindly, with a ready smile and twinkling eyes, and a great sense of humor. He will be sorely missed, not only by me, but by his many friends and customers on the coast. My deepest condolences and prayers for comfort are with his family.

Harold the Magnificent, you were truly one of a kind. I once asked Harold where he was from knowing he likely must have had similar immigration roots to my family that I detected in his accent. He proudly announced he was from Phoenix, Arizona. I kept a straight face attempting not to be rude and we kept the conversation going as usual. Having been a customer for 25 years, how did I not know this? Of course he fessed up before I left the shop! Haha! Loved his sense of humor, his kindness and was always impressed that he would remember my entire family’s names even though we were not everyday-customers. May his life be a blessing….forever. 🙏🏻 ❤️
I knew I would always be gifted a smile and a wisecrack whenever I went into the shop. This wonderful man will be missed.

Harold was an impeccable, old-world craftsman who took pride in his work.
He was able to restore and bring life back to items most people would discard.
And, he did it with wit and flare. He deemed a purse of mine a "work of art" and was delighted he was able to repair it back into service.
He will be greatly missed.

Harold was such a craftsman and a nice person. He was truly dedicated to the community. Besides all his remarkable work on shoes he was also my go to guy when it came to zippers. RIP Harold....we will miss you. Steve Michelson
Harold always had a smile to greet you upon entering his shop, and his humorous comments could make your day brighter. He had a magical touch turning a favorite pair of foot wear, a purse or luggage back to useable conditions. Our condolences to his family and the community of friends he leaves behind.

Walking into his shop brought back a flood of memories of my childhood and visiting our cobbler in our town. Being greeted by a friendly smile from Harold was just wonderful. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
This is indeed a sad loss. It was always a joy to drop in just to say hello and banter with Harold. He surely was a master craftsman and it showed in all of his work, and in his smile. I was a very discerning customer, and he never let me down....
So happy to have known him, and terribly sorry for his loss.
