Guy H. Smith's Obituary
SMITH, GUY H. ' passed away on July 5th due to complications associated with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. Guy was 76 years old. Guy is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Donna Stelitano Smith; his daughter Michelle Chapman and her husband Mark; his daughter Tia Smith; his brothers Gerry and Dean Smith; and numerous beloved family and friends. Guy believed in serving both his country and his local community. He was stationed in Wurzburg, Germany with the United States Army. He then served as a City Councilman and Mayor in Lynwood, CA before moving his family to their Redwood City home in 1969. Locally, he served on the Redwood City Planning Commission, the Redwood Shores Homeowners Association Board of Directors, and the Notre Dame High School, Belmont Board of Directors. He was perhaps most proud of the 21 years he spent as a Commissioner with the Port of Redwood City. In addition to his community service, Guy has 37 years with AT&T/Pacific Bell. Guy's life will be celebrated on Friday, July 10 at 10:30 AM at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo. It was Guy's greatest wish that a cure for Parkinson's Disease be found.
