Fritz Michon's Obituary
Celebrating the life of Fritz Michon born on Feb 9, 1922 in Lawang, Indonesia. His parents were Willem Michon and Marie Heyman. He attended Don Bosco Orphanage where he earned a High School Diploma.After graduating, he joined the Dutch Army and became a Sergeant. He received a National Defense Medal after being a Japanese P.O.W. Soon after, he married his wife Kay So on Feb 22, 1947 in Surabaya, Indonesia. He had 3 tight-knit boys before immigrating to Holland in 1955 and then a beautiful daughter before immigrating to the U.S. in 1960.Fritz took a calculated risk by bringing his family to the land of opportunity with just $300 in his pocket and he succeeded. He started a career in Engineering and was the Assistant Chief Engineer at the Hilton in San Francisco and retired in 1984 as the Chief Engineer of the Royal Coach Hotel in San Mateo. He lived in San Mateo County for many years.After retirement he spent most of his time crafting elaborate electrical projects around the house. When the doorbell would ring, the electric birds would sing. When the phone rang, the lights would flash. And when the garage door was open, the radio would play…just to name a few.He also spent a lot of time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His most important events were having his children, and helping his family with house projects. He was a simple man who was loyal, dependable, hard working, showed integrity, and was very unselfish. He was a member of the Catholic Church and loved popular music.He is survived by his children: Roy and spouse Patricia, Henry and spouse Debby, Pete and spouse Michele, Isabella and spouse Rob. Grandchildren: Chris, Michelle and spouse Laura, Nicole and spouse Ross, Erik and spouse Kathy, James, and Jesse. Great Grandchildren; Keira, 4, Luke, 3, Ella, 3, and Ryker, 1.
