Filomena Madrid Concepcion's Obituary
Filomena Madrid Concepcion was born on July 5, 1918 in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was the eldest of seven children. While she was an intern nurse at Mary Chiles Hospital, she met her late husband, Leonardo Marquez Concepcion who was her patient. They fell in love and got married, and were blessed with seven wonderful children – Cesar, Edgar, Ester, Reuben, Oscar, Perla and Renne. Along with being a dedicated wife and mother, Filomena was a full-time homemaker who spent her life making sure her children were cared for, so that her children were able to concentrate on getting a quality education. As her life blossomed she was further blessed with twenty beautiful grandchildren and nineteen bouncy great-grandchildren, all of whom she gave her unconditional love. The Matriarch of the family, Filomena was always determined to keep the family together through love and generosity. One of her many gestures of thoughtfulness was she never forgot the birthdays of her many loved ones. Always happy and cheerful, it was in her nature to look at the brighter side of life, with an uplifting smile and a laugh that was contagious. She loved parties with her family where she enjoyed dancing and playing Mah Jong. When relaxing at home, she enjoyed Philippine television programming. Throughout her long, fulfilling life Filomena was a practicing devout Catholic attending mass and praying the Rosary. The life and spirit of Filomena Madrid Concepcion will live on in our hearts, and she will never be forgotten.
