My deepest condolence to the Concepcion and Marino families. Nanay did a great job raising her children and grandchildren. I feel very lucky to have the greatest neighbors. They make me feel safe and not feel alone knowing they are just next door. It has been a rough few months, since the Holidays, that the Marino family kept a loving vigil over Nanay, seeing to her physical and emotional comfort. I was happy to learn that she left our world surrounded by everyone she loved and who loved her. Now she is resting in peace. Her loving smile and comforting touch will be missed but we know she is in heaven watching over the beautiful people she raised. God Bless Nanay and her family.##imported-begin##Grace Parmelee##imported-end##

LUNING”Luning” as known to many, is Filomena Madrid Concepcion. She was born on July 5, 1918 in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was the eldest of seven children. In high school, she was crowned as “Ms. Rizal.” Her parents were known as market wholesalers. While a nurse intern at Mary Chiles Hospital in Manila, she met her late husband, Leonardo Marquez Concepcion, who happened to be a patient at the hospital.World War II broke out. Manila’s vivacity and liveliness was interrupted, and … so as the friendly encounter. In the midst of upheaval and confusion, destiny brought them back together. To make the love story short, Luning and Leonardo were blessed with seven wonderful children: Cesar, Edgar, Ester, Reuben, Oscar, Perla and Renne. Twenty endearing grandchildren soon came after; and nineteen precious great-grandchildren came trickling one by one. Luning is also survived by her sisters, Nemy and Sayong; and brother, Amor.During the Concepcion’s family life, Leonardo was the breadwinner, and Luning was the full-time homemaker who made certain the “bread” Leonardo brought home was well budgeted for life’s necessities, primarily for the son’s and daughter’s college education.Luning was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, and a doting grandmother who looked at the brighter side of life. She has a happy smile and a great sense of humor. She is a devout Catholic who believed in the power of praying the rosary.Luning had a remarkable and joyful life. At 93, we are deeply appreciative of her inspiring healthy long life and impressive memory. Luning will always be in our hearts. We will forever cherish the precious moments we shared with Luning – our Mommy, Lola and Grandma.POEM: Life is ShortLife is short, make it beautiful Life is short, take care of it, extend it, use it, and make the most of it to a life of value and worth Because, life is short. We love you, Mommy.Affectionately, Fidette and Reuben Concepcion##imported-begin##Fidette & reuben Concepcion##imported-end##
