Effie McCallum's Obituary
Effie May McCallum passed peacefully in her sleep at home on April 13, 2013, she was 87 years young.Effie May McCallum was born in Bridgeport, Conn. On her mother’s side the Holly’s can trace their roots back to early Colonial America. She married Eugene McCallum in Madison, Wisconsin where he was stationed in the Army Air Force during WWII.They had four beautiful daughters; Susan, Diana, Sharon and Jeannie. They also had two handsome sons; Richard and David. They have eight grandchildren and seven great-grand children.During their married life of 68 plus years they traveled extensively, not only throughout the 50 states but also to: Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Scotland, the Caribbean, South Sea Islands, France, Italy, Switzerland and Egypt.Effie was very interested in portrait painting and she was active in singing in the church choir. Eugene and Effie started up a very successful welding equipment repair company serving the San Francisco bay area. They were known as the “The Best in the West” by their customers. After being married for 68 years it will be difficult for Eugene to imagine what life will be like without this wonderful, loving, cheerful, vivacious, inspirational, warm, green eyed, beautiful woman by his side, and he looks forward to seeing her again in heaven and hearing her sing those wonderful hymns again.Effie was what you may call an evangelical born again Christian. For those who may not know what the term “a born again Christian” means it is a warm feeling of love for God and Christ and their teachings delivered to us through the Holy Ghost. It is not just living a good life or going to church every Sunday or saying our prayers every night. It is a feeling of warmth inside yourself that controls everything that you do and think and when it does this you will know that you will someday walk with all the souls that have gone on before you.Her happiest moments, outside of being with her family, were talking about Christianity, singing hymns and living to the best of her ability.
