Dorothy G Bailey's Obituary
Dottie (Dorothy) Bailey, aged 89, of Auburn, California died peacefully in Roseville, California on May 24, 2023, after a brief illness. She will be laid to rest on June 12, 2023 at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo County.
Dottie was born November 15, 1933 in Overland, St. Louis County, Missouri to Earl and Verna Chapman. After moving to California, the family settled in San Carlos. She married Ted Bailey on February 14, 1954 in San Carlos and later moved to Mtn. View, California where she and Ted raised three children in their home of 46 years. Dottie worked as a full charge bookkeeper for a lumber company in Mtn. View. She also volunteered her time as a Girl Scout Leader and at the local baseball field where her sons played and her husband coached Little League.
Following the passing of her husband Ted in 2001, Dottie relocated to Lincoln, California where she made new friends and enjoyed her retirement years taking cooking classes and volunteering for the Del Webb Lincoln Hills Community newsletter. Dottie was an avid seamstress, quilter and crafts person and created many beautiful textiles for family and friends. She enjoyed attending garage sales, shopping and caring for her orchids.
Dottie is survived by her daughter, Linda (Larry) Edwards; son, Michael (Pamela) Bailey; and grandchildren Rebecca Bailey, Nicole Unger and Melissa Bailey. Dottie was preceded in death by her son David Bailey in 2022.
The family will hold a private memorial service in the fall at Skylawn Memorial Park.
