It wasn’t until last fall (of ‘22) that I really related to Mrs Bailey from an adult’s perspective. I made contact with her after David passed away and we ended up having a number of phone conversations. I hadn’t talked with her since around the time my mom passed away- so it was nice to reconnect.
Nicole and I were later blessed to visit her in December and we had a really nice time talking about family and reminiscing of old Mtn. View and Isabelle Ave neighborhood memories; also hearing more about her life and interests.
I have fond memories of both Mr and Mrs Bailey; from my childhood up into adulthood. I can look back now with respect for them as parents who worked hard and raised a family.
Growing up, over and over they allowed and welcomed us Diaz kids into their household and they were alway nice and patient with us. On a few occasions I got well deserved stern ‘talkings to’ from Mrs Bailey and sent home, but always with kindness in her heart.
I know that they and my parents enjoyed a long neighborly friendship- of course with ups and downs (mostly due to all the kids shenanigans!!), but never so bad that they wouldn’t eventually enjoy a nice street-side conversation- usually on a hot summers night or during a holiday.
After my dad and Mr Bailey passed away, Mrs. Bailey and my mom continued with a close relationship. Mrs Bailey showed much concern and love to my mom as she was in her last days and to this I’m forever grateful to her.
Nicole and I extend our deepest condolences to all the family during this time of loss. May God bless you all with his abounding comfort.
I’m honored to have known Dottie.
