Donna Fong's Obituary
Donna was born in Guangdong, China on February 11, 1955. Her parents together with Donna's sister and brother moved to Hong Kong when she was a baby. Donna spent her childhood years in Hong Kong until 1970, when she and her family immigrated to the United States as a teenager. Her family settled down in Stockton, California, where Donna attended and graduated from high school. She subsequently attended the University of California at Davis in 1972.Donna met her husband Dave in UC Davis and the two married in 1975 after two years of sweet romance. Donna and Dave together raised two children, daughter Leslie and son Brian. Donna's proudest and happiest moments were from the birth of her children. When Donna was bringing up the children, she always provided unconditional love and affection to them. Both Leslie and Brian not only recognize Donna as a one-of-a kind mother, but also as a comforting friend.Donna always carried a sweet smile. With her cheerful and loving personality, Donna was able to make many friends, both at work and outside of work. She was always well-liked by her friends, colleagues, and family members.SamTransDonna started her career with SamTrans as an account clerk over 32 years ago. With her hard work, experienced technical skills, dedication, and enthusiastic attitude toward work, Donna rose to be an accountant and eventually a finance manager. As a result of her contribution to the company, Donna received many meritorious service awards. Donna retired from SamTrans on October 16, 2012.Leisure ActivitiesAll her life Donna loved to travel. Every opportunity she had, she would find new places to travel to. She herself would do all the research, book flights, hotels, and tour packages. Donna traveled to many places and enjoyed the culture and people of each place.When not traveling, Donna loved to play, dine, and party with her friends and family members. One of her most loved leisure activities was to play the game of Mahjong. As a beginner to the game, she still won a majority of the time. She also loved ballroom dancing, karaoke, and Chinese television series.Donna also enjoyed taking pictures. She took pictures of almost all day-to-day activities and events. She said that the pictures would serve as her diary. Between Donna and her husband, they have taken over 200,000 pictures with the majority of them taken by Donna. With her artistic instinct, Donna was able to capture the better and more exciting images.The End of the JourneyDonna passed away at home on November 30, 2012. She was surrounded by her beloved husband, daughter, son, and sister. Her unforgettable smile will be missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her father Wah Yu. Donna is survived by her husband Dave, daughter Leslie, son Brian, daughter-in-law Teeda, granddaughter Samantha, Donna's mom Yung Lee, sister Mei Wong, brother-in-law Willie Wong, brother Andy Yu and sister-in-law, Jenny Yu.Viewing will be held on December 15, 2012 at Skylawn Funeral Home from 10:30 am to 11:00 am.
