When my husband, Lou and I attended Diana's funeral, we got to meet her immediate and extended family as well as her SF friends. When family members and friends shared their testimony and I talked with the attendees, I felt the warmth and shared love we had for Diana in the room. I was sad yet happy to hear stories of Diana and not surprised at how much she affected others. I was thrilled to meet EBJ (Emily, Brandon & James, her niece and nephews) as young adults. It was so nice to meet family and friends in person that Diana had talked about. Her work colleagues from Kaiser Permanente attending the funeral tells me that Diana made a lasting impact at work. After the funeral I talked with people at lunch I just met that day; it was as if we were friends for a long time.
A key phrase at the funeral, lunch and cemetery service was "that is so Diana". From teen to adult, I relied on Diana for advice. Going forward, when life throws me a curveball, my phrase will be "what would Diana say".
I will miss her dearly.
Shout out to Villy-- she did a wonderful job officiating the funeral. Villy was by Diana's side when she passed. She was the SF point person assisting Diana's brothers who lived out of state. Villy helped the family to navigate the process of laying to rest their sister.
(I promised to share photos of Diana when we were teens but somehow I can't load. I will try to attach to an email.)
