There is a saying “Get busy, God is coming.” Well, my brother was busy when God came calling. My brother was a wise man. He was ALWAYS on a mission and he would say….”I am on a mission.” His mission was everything that he touched and everything that he knew. His daily mission was loving his wife (like they were newlyweds), loving his daughter, his son, and…oh yes, his grand-daughters. He loved his whole family and extended family and friends. My brother loved his church and he loved working in the church. He loved working in his garden, working on improving his home, working on improving his apartment building, working on my father’s estate and working at anyone else’s home. He loved working to improve the lives of young men. He loved teaching anyone that would listen the lessons that he learned in life. My brother just LOVED to work! He loved to make life better for others. He was always on a mission!My brother was a wise man and taught me so many things in life. The most important lesson that I learned from my brother is the same lesson that I learned from my MOTHER (and she is the wisest woman that I will ever know)–that lesson is “LOVE IS THE GREATEST THING IN HEAVEN AND EARTH.” My brother’s love was unconditional. Delores and familyWorking with Dennis here at Murray Hill and seeing the work and dedication he poured into our young men can never be matched. One could not miss the special relationship he developed with the students. They knew the stern words and consequences they received from Mr. Williams were coming from a place of caring and a desire to see them succeed. What a legacy he has left.It was an honor to know that’s how God made Dennis. That even as a child he lived his life, giving and caring. I worked with Dennis for the past 8 years. I would ask him to visit my classroom whenever my kids needed a pep talk about the importance of learning to be a good reader. He would tell the kids that they were privaliged to be able to take this program, which costs hundreds of dollars, for free in school.
