Darlene oriented me to the Nursing Supervisor role about 27 years ago. She did a wonderful job of teaching me all the critical decision making skills necessary for the job. I have never laughed so much as when I went through my orientation with her. On my first day orienting with her I almost feel down the escalator. I was very embarrassed but she said don’t feel bad because during my orientation, I fell down and rolled all the way to the bottom! We met monthly for many years for lunch. She always talked about Erin and Jenny. Each month we would compare notes on our kids from the challenges when you were young through those teen years! You were always foremost on her mind. What I loved about Darlene was her integrity, sense of humor, advocacy for patients and nurses, work ethic, honesty, responsibleness, and her ability to sometimes say things that were difficult to say. She will always be in my heart. RoseAnn Kushner
