My deepest sympathies go to Clara’s family’s and to all the children that Clara helped raised that loved her so much. Clara was a Saint, and the closest form of what I imagine an Angel to be. She was a beam of light that made everyone she came in contact with brighter. Just thinking about her makes me smile, her laugh, even when she raised her voice to keep us kids in line it sounded like she had a grin behind her scolding face. I loved taking walks with Clara, thinking back on them now, they were almost surreal like, the Carlos Castaneda story, “Journey to Ixlan.” Clara would make it feel like you were on a mission and together you would walk side by side learning about life through daily rituals or walking in nature as we would walk and talk together. From the walks around her house early in the morning ,after the big kids went to school, making up all of the beds the experience was magical as it was practical. She would point out how beautiful the birds were when they sang to her out her window as she showed me how to fluff the pillow or tighten the corners of the bed. She was mesmerizing , I remember when she took us to the Hillsdale Cinema and did not drive, all 17 kids in tow as we marched down the street, what a sight to see Clara and her band of Monkeys. I think how grateful I am to have been in her presence. She was an inspiration to me as a young girl and as a woman. Later in life, I had many chances to visit Clara as an adult and was grateful for the talks that we had later on. Walking around the gardens of her home she always shared the beautiful fruit that grew around her gardens and talked about how wonderful all her children were, she was so proud of her family and loved you all so much. Thank you all for sharing her with me and my family. Clara was a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Teacher, Sitter, And to all, always a Friend that taught us the art of loving each other and living in peace and harmony with one another through our day to day daily lives. Always Love One Another. Love, The Scheller’s~ JP, Diane, Kathy and Jeff.
