Carolyn Caron's Obituary
Carolyn Caron 75, of Pleasanton, CA went to be with her Lord on 8/25/2011. She was born in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Bill & Sophie Schmidt. She lost her only older brother Eddy to Polio when she was 15 years old. She married Dale Caron in May of 1956 in Niles, Michigan and she bore 4 children, Michele a single birth and triplets Dennis, Dan and Denise, all of whom were born in St. Louis and who miss her dearly. Her early years were spent at Carolyn’s Pastry Shop, the bakery her parents owned. She attended Lutheran grade and high schools in St. Louis. Her parents were both born in Germany. Unfortunately, she never learned the language because German was not allowed to be spoken during WW-II. She was very popular with her school buddies, because they were allowed to stop by after school and Carol’s Mom would let them have a donut or something sweet. She met her husband, Dale at age 16 and was married at age 20. By the time she was 24 she had 4 children, and was kept very busy raising kids for the next 20 years. She was a member of the Twin Mothers Club (they didn’t have a Triplet Mothers Club back then), and she was a very competitive league bowler.Carol lived for her family. She made her home welcome to all from her children’s friends in the early years to countless dinner parties and bar-b-ques through the later years. She was always there to lend a generous ear to both the good and the bad news, and to fill her loved ones with comfort food. She loved to cook and spent much of her time in the kitchen, often refining her signature dishes including lasagna, fried chicken with mashed potatoes and cream gravy, and pork roast with vegetables and noodles. And no one could ever forget her German potato salad which she made in batches of up to 20 pounds at the request of her loving fans. She maintained wonderful long term friendships with many people in St Louis, Denver, Arizona and California. She was a diligent letter writer, hand writing many pages at the start of each day. Carol had a great sense of humor, was quick to laughter, and was fun to tease which made her especially enduring to all that knew her.She was a resident of St Louis until 1969, when her husband Dale was transferred with IBM to Denver, Colorado. In 1977, Dale was transferred to the Bay Area, were they had homes in Mountain View, and Foster City. She spent her last four years in Pleasanton, CA.Both of her parents pre-deceased her, but all of her children survive her. She is missed by her son-in-laws Randy and Noah, grand-children Josh, Jake, Robert, Melissa, Ashley and Kaitlyn, and her great-grandchild Brydan.A memorial service is planned on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 11AMSkylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
