Her sister Debra Skinner wrote these memories:
My sister, Beverly Saxton, was my best friend growing up. Along with our brother, Richard Rhodes, we got to spend a lot of time with cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and great grandparents in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Then our father got a job which required our family to move a lot, which is why Beverly was such a great friend. I remember looking at hermit crabs on the beach in Massachusetts, fishing and catching box turtles in South Dakota, bowling in Sedalia, Missouri, among at least 20 other places in our youth. Holidays were so special, especially when we lived in Great Falls, Montana, and all she wanted was a walking dog named Gaylord! She was so obsessed with it!
Teenage years we were always going to the parks with our best friends who were also sisters. Beverly and I loved going to the Montana State Fair, rides and concerts, and AAA Giants games.
When Beverly met Phillip Saxton who introduced me to my future husband, Al, our favorite things to do fell to Air Force. They got sent to Greece and we got sent to Fairbanks, Alaska. We all returned to Montana and had several family meetings with Rick and Cindy and their three kids.
Retirement meant that we would split up again and I would finally meet her in Washington and then in California, a place where she called her forever home with good friends and horses.
I really loved being with her and wanted more but God took her away so she is now out of pain and worries.
I love you sister, Bev, and so does your brother Rick! And as Roy Rogers would sing while on his horse
🎶 Happy trails to you, till we meet again🎶😘❤️🙏🏻❤️
