Alice Estrada's Obituary
Alice Estrada, age 86, died on November 9, 2010 of an unexpected heart attack. A long time resident of San Mateo, Alice was born in 1924 at the Filoli estate in Woodside, where she spent her childhood years to the age of 12 . She and her brother James Lowrie were born to James Sir and Annie Lowrie, originally from Scotland. Alice attended San Mateo High School and furthered her education at San Mateo College. She had worked for Eimac/Varion Electronics for over 40 years and retired in 1990.Alice married Elmer Estrada, now deceased, and is survived by her Son, Steve Estrada (Linda), grandchildren, Michael and Lisa and two great grand children, Hailey and Cayden. Alice was a very active lover of animals and she enjoyed raising German Shepherds. She also loved the out doors and was a member of the Sierra Club and later a docent for the Filoli estate, leading families through the property and telling of the history and her experiences as a child, up until her passing. Alice traveled extensively throughout the West and was an avid snow skier involved with the Donner ski club, later to build Donner Ski Ranch, becoming a life time member.Ironic as it might seem, her motto would be... "fight for just cause, love nature and all that surrounds you, live bold". This she instilled in me, her son. God rest her soul……
