Shu-Wen Wan, aged 64, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020, at Stanford Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She is the beloved wife of Tzu-Chiang Wan. Shu-Wen was born on June 6, 1956 in Miaoli City, Taiwan. She attended elementary and junior high schools in Miaoli and attended college in Tamsui. She worked as a bank teller when she met her future husband, Tzu-Chiang. On July 2, 1982, Shu-Wen and Tzu-Chiang married in Taipei. In August 1982, Shu-Wen and Tzu-Chiang moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. During the six years in Michigan, Tina and Judy were born. On Mother’s Day in 1988, Shu-Wen and her family moved from Michigan to San Jose, California. After spending a few years taking care of Tina and Judy, she went back to work. Shu-Wen worked in accounting for almost 20 years. During this time, she was renowned among family and friends for her outstanding cooking and her love of nature and gardening (particularly fruit trees). When Shu-Wen retired in 2012, she spent a few years traveling through Europe, China, Canada, the United States, Greece, and the Mediterranean with Tzu-Chiang. She also enjoyed attending Yi Jin classes where she made lasting relationships that brought incredible joy during the last few years of her life. She continued to cultivate her beloved plants in her backyard greenhouse, of which she was very proud. Shu-Wen is survived by her husband Tzu-Chiang, her daughters Tina and Judy, sons-in-law Evan Blomquist and Sean Miyashiro, and her brothers, sister, and sisters-in-law. Shu-Wen’s memorial service will take place Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at Skylawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park. An inurnment service will take place following the memorial service. Shu-Wen will be laid to rest at Skylawn Memorial Park in Island East. The family appreciates your love and support, but they are not accepting flowers or monetary gifts.
