Cresencia Gorospe Obituary Cresencia Gorospe, aged 90, of Daly City passed away in Concord, California on Friday, February 5, 2021. She was born May 22, 1930 in the Philippines, to Alejandro and Tarcela Ariate. Cresencia was the third eldest daughter and had 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Her family was very poor. She would help her father who was a fisherman. They would walk to the market and sell their catch. Although times were hard, she vowed to have a better life. She loved learning and would have furthered her education but for WWII. Cresencia was introduced to the love of her life by her best friend, Exal. In 1957, she married Fausto Gorospe. That same year, she immigrated to the United States, to her husband’s home in San Francisco. They had 3 daughters. In 1964, they bought a home in Daly City, where they lived and raised their family. The family joined the Our Lady of the Visitation (OLV) Parish, where the daughters attended grammar school and went to Church. She loved Fausto dearly and was grief stricken when he passed away in 1980. She remained a widow until she passed. Cresencia was a skilled seamstress. She made most of her children’s clothing, while they were growing up. She found work in the garment industry, first as a seamstress, making men’s jackets and women’s uniforms. Eventually, she rose to a Supervisor position, where she oversaw quality and production. She loved working with people and was always interested in learning about them, their families and culture. She was a devout Catholic and had faith in God. She loved her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, singing and dancing. She liked helping people and making friends. She loved to cook and enjoyed watching others enjoy her food. She showed her love through food and her daughters grew up where food was always on the table. You would never go hungry in her home. In the land of opportunity, she would share what she had. Even with sending her daughters to parochial school, she still was able to share money with relatives to pursue their nursing careers. She was headstrong and always worked towards her dreams and goals. She brought over brothers, sisters and other relatives that wanted to come to the United States, so they could have more opportunities. Cresencia is survived by her daughters, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. “Life is not eternal, but the great love of memories is everlasting.” A Funeral/Wake/Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021, 12:00pm - 1:30pm PST, at Skylawn Memorial Park, Highway 92 & Skyline Boulevard, San Mateo, CA, 94402.
