John V. Reeb

Birth Date: February 10, 1934
Death Date: January 7, 2018

John V. Reeb, aged 83, of Alameda, and formerly of San Francisco, died at the Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care at the Martinez VA Clinic, on Sunday, January 7, 2018.

He was born February 10, 1934 in Marble City, Oklahoma, to William and Inez Rape. He graduated from McFarland High School in 1952, and 3 years later joined the Unites States Air Force. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1975 after 20 years of service. He served in Vietnam, Korea and Japan, among other places. He adopted his only son, John, in Japan at the age of 11 months.

Genealogy was his passion, and he wrote and collaborated on several books about the Reeb Family. In his pursuit of his family history, he discovered the origins of his family name in Alsace, France. Through his lineage, he was able to become a two-time member of the Sons of American Revolution.

He became a San Francisco Giants fan late in life and watched nearly every game on TV. He attended his first Major League baseball game at the age of 79, and enjoyed watching the Giants win the World Series that same season.

John is survived by his son John and daughter in-law Natasha, his grandchildren Katya and Tyler, his younger brothers Jerry and Gary and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He adored his grandchildren and loved his family passionately. He will be greatly missed.
