Apolinar, Yulo Gonzaga's Obituary
In loving memory of Yulo “Attorney” Apolinar
March-07-1945 - April-26-2026
Yulo was the first born, of five offspring, the late Augorio, Aida, Alberto, and the late Gregorio from the union of Paulino Apolinar & Consuelo Gonzaga, and was a widower to the late Rose Apolinar who died in November of 2024.
He is survived by his brother Alberto and his children; Henry, Leo, Ryan, & Christine, unmarried sister Aida, the late Argorio's children Gigi, Gina, & Roger, the late Gregorio’s children John Paul and Francesca, and his stepson Edgardo.
He was born in the province of Batangas in the Philippines and migrated to San Francisco, Ca. in the early 80’s and eventually settled in Daly City at the time of his passing.
He had numerous job experiences during his lifetime, which is consistent with these hardworking men and women of his generation.
He was a third mate officer of merchant mariners in the Philippines. He stated that his job position was responsible for chartering and navigating known sea and ports around the world as they sailed to those places.
He told stories of many countries he had traveled to and visited of which he was proud of the opportunity to have seen them in his lifetime.
He also taught marine navigation at a university in Manila in the early 70’s.
In San Francisco, he worked in convalescent homes, a chinese tofu maker, and eventually he worked as a civil servant in the MUNI division for over 20 years, of which he retired from.
He worked in many odd jobs, he said to survive. A wonderful trait to have.
Yulo was known to everyone as “Attorney”. A nickname fondly given to him by his late wife Rose for often defending this author of his galavanting in his teen years.
People would ask once they hear his name is attorney, if he was a lawyer and if was still practicing and the quick quip from Rose was, no he is not taking any new cases as he was simi-retired. She never did deny nor confirm whether he is really an Attorney or not.
Yulo’s passion was ballroom dancing. He, Rose and other friends loved going to dance halls, church functions, local casinos, birthday celebrations, to enjoy themselves dancing.
He was also a beloved member of the Knights of Columbus and loved serving the community they live in.
He loved going to buffet as well. He can sit there and eat for hours. It was awesome watching him put away the amount of food in one seating.
He will be forever missed.
May God bless him and he may rest in peace.
