Dr. Yulin Wu's Obituary
On Good Friday, April 19, 2019, Dr. Yulin Wu, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in his home in Burlingame, California. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie, his two children, Dr. Sonya (Dr. Richard Ng) Wu and James (Minnie) Wu, his six grandchildren, Kayleigh, Alaina, Elias, Emma, Michael and Grace, and his brother, Yao-Lin Wu.Dr. Wu was born on October 3, 1935, in Nantou, Taiwan. He earned his degree in Chemistry from the National Taiwan University. He received full scholarships to attend both Brigham Young University, where he completed his Master’s degree in Chemistry, and Ohio State University where he completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry. Dr. Wu had a very illustrious and successful career at Phillips Petroleum Company where he was the Sr. Principal Chemist and worked for over 30 years. He spent most of his career working at Phillips’ headquarters in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, but also contributed to Phillips’ operations in many of their diverse locations such as in China and Ekofisk in the North Sea. Dr. Wu published articles and was a prolific inventor filing over 55 patents. He was a mentor and advised over 2000 engineers worldwide.He was active in his church serving as a deacon, moderator and elder. Dr. Wu was known for his quick wit and dedication; many sought his advice and wisdom. His joy was spending time with his family. He was much loved and will be missed by all who knew him.A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church at 728 W.
