Yorkward Yang's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved father and grandfather, Mr. Yorkward Yang, of San Jose, CA at the age of 86 on September 5th, 2022, with two sons, two daughters, and one son-in-law by his side.
Yorkwad was born and raised in China before World War II. He was the eldest of three brothers and one sister. In 1947, he was forced to leave his hometown with his grandfather, oldest uncle, and his second brother due to civil war while his mother, third brother, and youngest sister stayed behind. And then in 1948, he escaped to Taiwan with his youngest uncle and his wife, and his cousin as refugees at the age of 12.
During his time in Taiwan, Yorkward married Chao Hung, and had two sons, Lichang and Likeng, and two daughters, Lily and Glenda.
In 1986, at the age of 50, he immigrated to the United States of America and settled down in San Jose, California. From his time in Taiwan then to United States of America, York had pursued his career in hospitality for 50 years. He was also a writer and calligrapher in his spare time. He is a generous philanthropist as well.
In 1988, Yorkward was able to go back to China to visit his mom after separating over 40 years by civil war.
Although York was bearing great pressure from his life, he stayed strong and persistent by supporting all his children in their educations and careers.
He is survived by his wife, Chao Hung, two sons and one daughter-in-law, two daughters and two son-in-law, and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 14th, 9:30 am, in Skylawn Funeral Home, Memorial Park & Crematory at San Mateo, northern California.
