Yan Fuei Wang's Obituary
Yan Fuei Wang passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at the age of 98, surrounded by family who loved her deeply. She lived a full and remarkable life marked by perseverance, hard work, and devotion to those around her.
Born in Changsha, Hunan, China, Yan Fuei’s early years were shaped by hardship as her family fled to Taiwan during the civil war. After her parents passed away when she was young, she became the caretaker and protector of her sisters by the age of ten. She completed her college studies in Education despite many difficulties and married her beloved husband, Yun Wang. Together, they raised two sons, who were her pride and joy.
In her forties, Yan Fuei survived two types of cancer after a long and difficult battle. She did this while working as an elementary school teacher in Taiwan, leaving a lasting impact on her students and coworkers, many of whom kept in touch decades later. She eventually moved to the United States with her husband to be close to their children.
Yan Fuei found her greatest joy with family — whether it was traveling, playing mahjong, or just being together in the same room. Late in life, she entrusted herself to Christ and was baptized, expressing a quiet faith that gave her peace in hardships.
Even in her advanced age, she remained sharp, learning to use the iPad to watch her favorite shows and keep in touch with relatives. At 96, she joyfully walked the Oscars red carpet for her grandson’s Oscar-nominated documentary, Nǎi Nai & Wài Pó, starring her and her best friend.
After living a rich and meaningful life, she is now reunited with her husband and her Heavenly Father, free from pain.
She is survived by her sons, Chilie and Chishung; their spouses, Ya and Chungsing; her grandchildren, Kelly, Jen, and Sean; and her great-grandchildren, Leah and Olivia.
There will be a memorial service at Skylawn Memorial Park (Pacific Chapel) in Half Moon Bay on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at noon. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember her life.
For those who are unable to attend in person, the memorial service will also be available to join online.
