Xiaozhu Huang's Obituary
Xiaozhu Huang, Age 59, passed on December 18, 2017 at UCSF Women’s Hospital in San Francisco, CA after a four-year journey with ovarian cancer. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.Xiaozhu was born on July 5th, 1958 in Wuhan, China to Xiuzheng Xiong and Fahong Huang as the oldest of four siblings. Even as a child, she always strove to be the very best; she somehow found time to be a nurturing older sister, a graceful dancer, as well as an excellent student. With strong academic success at Huagong Secondary School and a desire to help others, she went on to earn her MD at Tongji Medical University, before moving to San Francisco, California in 1992 as a Visiting Scholar at UCSF. Here, she made new lifelong friendships among her colleagues and other similar immigrant families. From supplying her guests with endless homemade bread, to cheering on every Bay Area sports team, to walking Skittles whether he wanted to or not, she filled her life with the company and activities she loved.In 2013, Xiaozhu was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Through this time, she still did her best to help and pass along her knowledge and advice to other patients. It didn’t matter whether they were friends who were going through a similarly tough time or strangers in online forums; she was kind and empathetic to all.Through all the different phases of her life, she has touched countless hearts and brought joy to those who were lucky enough to meet her.Xiaozhu is survived by her husband – Jianfeng, her son – Benny, and her “other son,” Skittles.Siblings –Huang, Xiaoling (Brother)Huang, Qiuping (Sister)Huang, Loping (Brother)A funeral service will be held on December 28th, 2017 at Skylawn Memorial Park.
