Willie Young Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Willie Young, Jr., passed away quietly in his sleep at his San Francisco home on September 27, 2014 at the age of 79.Willie Young, Jr. was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 1, 1935, to the parents of Willie D. Young and Annie (League) Young. He is preceded in death by his Father Willie D. Young and Brother Robert Young. Willie confessed himself to Christ and was baptized at an early age in Jerusalem Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri.Willie received his education from St. Louis Public Schools. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1954 during the Korean War. After his tour in the military, Willie resided in San Francisco, California. He was employed by the Plake Moffett and Towne Paper Company for 18 years and later retired from the San Francisco Department of Public Works after 25 years. He later retired from San Francisco Department of Public Works.Willie married Susie Murphy in 1951 and to his union, two sons were born: Ronnie and Willie Young. Later in 1956, he remarried to Juanita Haggerty and to this union, a daughter and two sons were born: Vivian, Barry and Clinton Young.Willie was a big football fan. He enjoyed watching football every Sunday. When he wasn’t watching football, he loved old Western movies. Willie was a quiet and kindhearted man.Willie Young Jr. will be deeply missed by his mother Annie Wallace (St. Louis, MO), sister Barbara Wallace (St. Louis MO), children Ronnie Young (Tacoma, WA), Willie Young (Sonja ~ Kansas City, MO), Vivian Young, Barry Young, Clinton Young (San Francisco, CA), nieces Lisa Gray (Gerald) and Dr. Tina Hamilton (both of St. Louis, MO), grandchildren Dont’a, Andre, Tamara, Malik, Rhonda, Shelley, Jessica, Danielle, Daynna, Alicia, Tiffany, Barry Jr., and Raunnie. Two grandsons preceded him in death, Quincey and Damon Young. He also leaves 13 great-grandchildren, a host of friends, and a very special friend, Phyllis Emerson.
