William F Meck's Obituary
William F. Meck Resident of Napa William F. Meck, 92, of Napa passed away on June 4, 2012 in San Mateo, California where he recently moved to be closer to his family. Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 29, 1929 to Fred and Martha Meck. He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings. In 1941 Bill married Jean Olsen. He had many great accomplishments in his life and was proud to have served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following the war, Bill and Jean moved to Hillsborough, California where they raised their two daughters. He was a successful entrepreneur and opened a meat packing business in Burlingame. He was a talented golfer and was a member of the Olympic Club in San Francisco for over 50 years. His love of golf led him to Napa, California where he spent the last 20 years as a member of the Silverado Country Club. In addition to golf, he enjoyed flying his Apache twin engine and spending time on his boat. He will be remembered for his terrific sense of humor and his gift of storytelling. He is survived by his daughters Bonnie Hower (David), Kathryn Harley (late Chris), his three grandchildren, Brian (Jenny), Kelly (Carter) and Heather amd his great-grandchildren, Colin, Spencer and Christopher. The family is especially grateful to his caretaker of six years, Cora Fulton. They also wish to acknowledge the compassion and care shown to him by Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, and the B & B Care Home. The family is having a private service. A celebration luncheon for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 23rd in Napa.
