How did you do that Willie ? On your most recent birthday at your memorial service the preacher reminded us of how much you love Hawaii and asked us to think of you when we next see a pineapple so we (your Primetime regulars ) went to that spot same day and in walked the current owner with a too-full bag of groceries so to avoid dropping it he put the top-most item — the pineapple on the bar in front of us. When he came back to retrieve it I tried to explain why were talking to you (Pineapple ) I know you heard us you Great Entertainer when we said we love you and miss you 😘 😍

My heart is deeply saddened by your departure. Losing you has been very emotionally tough for me. I know you’re with the Lord and mom and dad, so my heart is comforted.
You will always be alive in my heart. I want to thank for the years you’ve taken care of me from the days at the kung fu studio to the days before your health deteriorated.
I treasure the surprise birthday parties you’ve given me, my favorite dishes you so thoughtfully prepared for me, and the many times you hosted our family gatherings. You were always thinking of others and cooking meals to bring upon happy smiles. I will remember you as my loving, thoughtful, and generous brother.
Glad you were able to pass away at home as you wished. May your spirit rest in peace now.
I will take care of Annie the best I can as you asked me to. Guide me with your spirit as the best ways to care for her. I will help her through this very difficult time.
Good-bye for now, dear brother. We will be reunited in heaven one day. I will treasure the day when the whole family is together again, so save my spot.

On the day of Willie’s birthday and Celebration of Life, we grief over his departure, but are consoled by his entering into eternal bliss in the Lord. We are grateful for and challenged by his example of generosity and care for those around him: his tireless service of cooking for Cornerstone Church and School, his lavish hosting of parties for his family and friends, his willing delivery of assistance and food to the elderly relatives and those at Golden Heritage, his loving and playful care for our children….

Uncle Willie used to hang out years and years ago with my husband Tony, when they were both young and single. While I bet they had a lot of fun, they were both most contented working hard and serving others. Willie died one year to the day that Tony died. What a reunion in heaven that must have been.

I remembered Uncle Willie always taking the time to interact with the children around Cornerstone. His face glows with joy and his smiles are always infectious. I will missed him. I also remembered how wonderful he is in the kitchen. He had great menu ideas and had executed with flair. He is so kind and generous. Uncle Willie was one of the most generous and kind person I have ever known. He always had a smile on his face and he always saw things in a positive light. I can only hope to attain a fraction of his joyful personality. I am personally and professionally grateful for all he has done for me and my school. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

In my early thirties, I was single and generally bored getting off work at 1100pm. But then I discovered a sports bar three blocks away from my house, Prime Time Pizza owned by Willie Lee. I spent many work nights and weekends here and got to know Willie and Joe very well. We talked a lot about sports, our favorite restaurants and old time Chinatown. Willie and Joe gave great advice on life as we sat in the bar many nights past closing hours. Willie and Joe became respected “Uncles”.

Willie was always gracious, accommodating, generous and showed great love to all of his friends and customers!

Willie will always be in my heart and memory and I will miss him dearly.
