William “Bill” James LaCommare, age 63, of Rio Vista, California, passed away on May 20, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by love, creativity, innovation, and devotion to family and friends.
Bill was the beloved husband of Teresa LaCommare, loving father of Stephen LaCommare, cherished father-in-law of Emma LaCommare, proud grandfather of Elleyah and Souline LaCommare, and beloved son of Steve and Janet LaCommare and older brother to Steve and Greg. Family was at the center of his life, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved.
Bill was an entrepreneur, innovator, and early pioneer in the creative multimedia software industry. He founded Movieworks, a multimedia software application that helped thousands of people bring their creativity to life. The software became especially popular with children, educators, and aspiring creators, giving users a fun and accessible way to tell stories through multimedia. Bill took great pride in building tools that inspired imagination and creativity in others.
Throughout his career, including his later work in solar and home improvement sales, Bill was known for his intelligence, dedication, and ability to connect with people. He approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and a desire to make a positive impact.
Outside of work, Bill enjoyed fishing, hiking, scuba diving, music, photography, baseball card collecting, and spending time in nature. He appreciated the simple joys of life and shared those interests with the people he loved.
Bill was an avid fly fisherman, and this passion held a special place in his heart. Fly fishing shaped many cherished family vacations and created meaningful opportunities for him to spend special time with his son, Stephen and wife, Teresa. Those moments on the water became some of his most treasured memories, reflecting both his love of nature and the deep bond he shared with his family.
Bill will be remembered for his big heart, outgoing personality, creative spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the memories he created, and the creativity he inspired in others.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa LaCommare; his son, Stephen LaCommare; his daughter-in-law, Emma LaCommare; his granddaughters, Elleyah and Souline LaCommare; and his parents, Steve and Janet, his brothers Steve and Greg and their families.
Though Bill's presence will be deeply missed, his love, creativity, and the memories he gave to those who knew him will remain forever in our hearts.
