Ward Kratter's Obituary
Ward Kratter, 89, of San Mateo, California passed away late April with his family by his side.He grew up in San Francisco and went to Lincoln High School. He resided in San Francisco for over 30 years.After serving in the Air force during World War II, Ward began his career by owning Golden Gate Motors alongside his wonderful brother Bob Kratter. He retired at the age of 70.Ward married the love if his life, Bettie, in 1947 in Berkeley, California. Ward and Bettie were happily married for 67 wonderful years.Ward and Bettie loved hosting parties for family and friends, attending 49’er football games and traveling the world. Some of their favorite vacation destinations were Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean.When Ward and Bettie weren’t traveling or cheering on their beloved 49ers, Ward loved to play golf and tend to his garden. Ward also enjoyed Benny Goodman and other big band music.Ward held his dear friend Richard (Dick) Gogan very close to his heart. As well as many other friends.The most important event in Ward`s life was the birth of both of his daughters.Ward is survived by his loving wife, Bette, of San Mateo. His daughters Linda Kratter-Ronstadt of Santa Rosa, Deborah Santos and her husband Nelson Santos of San Leandro. Grandson Justin Ronstadt of Arizona.
