WALTER TERREL's Obituary
Terrel, Walter Clarence, Jr. 1920-2006 Passed away peacefully August 22, 2006 at his home inSan Bruno, CA , with his adoring daughter by his side, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was predeceased this past October, by his loving wife of 58 years, Beverly Terrel. He is survived by his beloved daughter Linda Terrel Cerini and son-in-law Larry Cerini. He was a dear uncle 'Unk' to nephews Wayne R. Hibner (Victoria) of Dana Point, CA and James Terrel (Marilyn) ofDallas, Texas . He was great uncle to Traci Masters andTami Ortega . He will also be lovingly remembered by many dear and lifelong friends. Born on August 18th, 1920 inMemphis, Tennessee , he moved to San Francsico with his father Walter C. Terrel, Sr., and brother, James Terrel, (both now deceased) when he was 5 years old after his mother, Ella Lewis Terrel died. They panned for gold during the depression, worked at the CCC camps, lived at the Presidio. and eventually he attendedGalileoHigh School in San Francisco . After the attack onPearl Harbor , he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp for the duration of the war. He honorably served on Guadalcanal during the dark days of that conflict and also participated in operations at Cape Gloucester, New Britain. After the war he met his beloved wife, Bev, while working for Leo J. Meyberg Company. He also worked as a salesman for RCA Victor and in Real Estate. He then worked for the US Naval Supply Center inOakland, CA before retiring. He was an avid Giant's and 49'er fan ' and don't argue a quarterback controversy with him ' Joe Montana was THE BEST!He was a Past Master of Mission Lodge, No. 169, F & AM of which he had been a member for 43 years. He most recently served Mission Lodge as Secretary for the past 11 years, and just recently retired. He has many adored Lodge Brethren which have been a constant source of comfort to his family.We are indebted to his physicians, Dr. L. Morretti, and Dr. I. Shelub and their staff, whom were compassionate, caring and always laughed at his jokes!We will not forget the kind twinkle in his bright green eyes, his welcoming handshake, energetic stride, and smiling voice. We will remember his dignity and compassion, his wonderful sense of humor, and the grace and generosity with which he loved us all. We will carry him with us in our hearts and be grateful for every day we knew him. His family invites his friends to share in a Celebration of his Life which will be held on Friday, September 8th, at 12 noon at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church,1600 Santa Lucia Avenue, San Bruno.
