Virginia Hempel's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia Hempel, of Santa Clara, announces her passing on Sunday December 23, 2018 at the age of 99 years.Virginia was born in Illinois on July1, 1919, graduated from Belleville High School and received numerous credits from various colleges. She loved her Adult Continuing Education classes. Virginia worked as a talented, valued and loyal employee of the State of California, as a court reporter for 30 years. She was a member of the Bay area Accordion Club, South Bay Accordion Jam and the Silicon Valley Accordion society, Nations Court Reporters Association and gave generously to many charities. Virginia had a passion for Health and Nutrition, Sierra Club Hiking excursions, traveling with the family, swimming, tennis, horseback riding, stamp collecting, animals, dancing, the mountains, Estes Park, Colorado, canning with her nieces, her church and friends, and most of all music – especially her accordion. Virginia was an accomplished accordion player who was often asked to join in at events.Virginia will be missed by those left behind, her sister, Margaret (Beck), nieces Julie and Wendy (Beck), cousins Jennifer and Pete Kalvass, their dog Ruby (Mendocino, CA) their daughter Emily and husband Gannon (Carmichaels, CA), their children Abigail and James Lewis, cousins Leon Rogers, Lewis Rogers III, cousins Richard and Kitty Johnson and their daughters Michelle and Nicole (FL), Barbara Jean and Chuck Hemple ( San Diego, CA) and their children Gail and Craig and many other loving relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her mother (Rena) , Her father, (Eugene) and her brother (Eugene Jr.)The family is grateful to the dedicated caregivers who cared for her in her last years. Funeral graveside services will be held 1:30 PM January 2, 2019 at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, California. Those who so desire may make a memorial donation in memory of Virginia to the Foundation or Society of their choice.
