Violet J. Simpson's Obituary
Violet Simpson died unexpectedly at home on February 8, 2011, at age 83. She was born on October 6, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Denver, Colorado, with her adored sister Shirley and brother Fred. She attended The Casements in Ormand Beach, Florida, and the University of Colorado, Boulder, then settled in California, where she met Bruce, the love of her life, and raised four children in San Mateo and Belmont.Professionally, Violet enjoyed over 40 years of helping clients in real estate, but family and friends always came first. She formed a special bond with everyone she met. Many long-lasting friendships began at her favorite spot, Lake Tahoe. An avid reader, she also loved opera, Bouquets to Art, sports, film, crossword puzzles and baking pies. Violet was an extraordinarily vivacious person whom everyone loved being with.Preceded in death by daughter, Mary. Survived by daughters, Randi (Mark) of Fort Worth, Texas and Lori (John) of San Carlos and son, Matt (Cheryl) of San Mateo. Beloved grandmother to Ben, Jen, Caitlin, Matt, Gavin, Tiffany, Adam and Katie and great grandmother to Emma, Hanna, Dorian, Johnny, Nina, Cali and Arthur. Also survived by brother, Fred (Jean), cousin Tom (Sharon) and many loved nieces and nephews.Celebration of life, Saturday, February 19, 1:00 pm at Skylawn Memorial Park, Hwy 92 and Skyline Blvd., San Mateo.
