Ut-Heong Chio's Obituary
Ut-Heong Chio, 93, left us peacefully on April 17, 2021, with her husband, children and grandchildren by her side, in Half Moon Bay, California.
Ut-Heong was born on November 20, 1928, in Fuzhou, China, to Bu-Yi Chio and Li-Li Lu. Ut-Heong spent her childhood in Fuzhou, China, where she met and married Keng-Fan Hoi.
Soon after the wedding, Mr. Hoi immigrated from China to Burma. Three years later, Mrs. Hoi reunited with her husband in Mandalay, Burma. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Hoi moved from Mandalay to Shwebo, Burma.
Mrs. Hoi was a homemaker and coffee shop keeper, while her husband was a merchant in Burma.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoi immigrated from Burma to Macau in 1972, then immigrated again from Macau to the Bay Area of California in 1989.
Mrs. Hoi was a devoted Christian.
Her interests included family, cooking, knitting and gardening. She devoted much of her time and energy to taking care of 12 grandchildren.
Mrs. Hoi is survived by her husband, Keng-Fan Hoi; an elder brother; two younger brothers; 6 children and their spouses: Richard and Elaine, Alice and Patrick, Shirley and Joseph, Aileen and Dennis, Maings and Sharon, Peter and Bianca; and 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
