Tony Lai Yu's Obituary
Tony Lai Yu (许力民, 许有恒), 98, of San Francisco, California passed away peacefully at Laguna Honda Hospital on November 20, 2022.
Tony was born on May 4, 1924 in FuJian, China to Xu Chui-He (许垂和)
and Huang He-Quan (黄荷劝). He attended University of the Philippines and graduated from ZheJiang Art College of China. He was married to the late Mary Chan-Foo.
Tony is an accomplished artist with multiple published works. He taught painting in Shanghai School of Fine Arts from 1956 to 1975.
He is survived by his children Pepito (Rosalina Tisoy), Danilo, Helen (Eduardo Almeida) and grandchildren Ashley, Audrey, Alex, Lucas and his pets, Orca and Max.
Tony has an older late brother, Vicente Sy Guat (许孙齐) and an older late sister, 许玉棉.
Dearly loved by his family, friends, colleagues, students and hospital staff, Tony has lived through life’s numerous ups and downs, from war to peace, always maintaining a positive attitude. His wisdom, warmth, love of life, and ability to grow and thrive till life’s very end will always be treasured by us all.
A funeral service will be held on December 4, 2022, 10AM at Skylawn Memorial Home, San Mateo, California.
