Tony Leow's Obituary
Tony Leow, of San Mateo, was born in Stockton, California. He attended San Joaquin Delta College (Business Administration Associate of Arts Degree – 1980) and California Bible College (Theology and Biblical Studies Degree – 1982). Shortly after graduation from Bible College, he served as a summer missionary in Hong Kong for three months. He was briefly involved in a church-planting work in Sunnyvale under Pastor Sen Wong. He was next employed by Smart Company for a period of four and a half years, as a Regional Manager in charge of photocopying medical records. He also worked as a print salesman for four years at Olympia Press and Sapir Press. He completed an Ophthalmic Technical Program at National Education Center in 1991 and worked as an optician (first at Patricia Chang, OD [San Carlos], then Parkside Optical [San Mateo], and finally at Borel Eye Center [San Mateo] from 1991 until his death. He was a longtime member of Fellowship Bible Church of Belmont, serving as a deacon for 15 years, as well as teaching in Sunday School, Children's Ministries, and Adult Fellowships. Tony loved to cook, and took great delight in sharing his cooking with family, friends and neighbors. His secret wish was to open a restaurant of his own one day. He also had a gift for construction, and worked for a time in that field, overseeing the completion of several construction projects and undertaking building expansions of his own home. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Tina, his children, Michael and Matthew, his mother, Rebecca Leow, of Stockton, and his brothers, Danny Leow, of Suisun City, and Ronny Leow, of San Mateo. He is also survived by his legal ward, Stella Subroto [Tina's niece], and Tina's nephew, William Subroto, both currently living with the family. There will be a viewing on December 15, 2012, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for family and close friends only. A memorial service is being planned for January 12, 2013, at Fellowship Bible Church, Belmont. Details are pending.
