I am still saddened and shocked by the passing of Tim. It is only couple months ago that we exchanged text to check on each other on how we were coping with the shelter in place order. He would tell how he enjoyed having so much bonding time with Lana, how he was excited for me about learning my daughter gotten accepted to her dream school. We were supposed to celebrate together once this lock down is over. When we got together last October and learned that our birthday was only 1 day apart, we were supposed to celebrate our birthday together this year.
Tim and I met each other on our Sophomore year at San Jose State University, we became great friends ever since. We both live in the Berryessa area, we would carpool to school together, study together, workout at the local gym at least 3 days per week together and take CS classes together. Tim always gets the better grade, that is why he graduated with honor. We even both became naturalized US citizen together and went together to the ceremony.
After we both graduated at SJSU, we both landed software development job immediately. we would have lunch once awhile to check on each other’s to see how we were doing with our new job. When I got married at 2000, Tim was my best man. Tim continue his study at Santa Clara University, I was busy with work and family, we don't hang out as often as before, but Tim would always initiate to ask him to go watch SJSU football game together, swim with him at SCU, ski at Tahoe. I would also ask him to go Deepsea fishing with me. As time went by, we saw each other less and less, but Tim and I would always send greetings to each other during Christmas time to see how each other are doing. We tried to get together for lunch at least once per year to catch up.
I am devastated to hear about Tim's passing last Sunday, but I will forever remember and treasure our time together. My deepest condolences to Ha, Lana and the Thai family.
